About Us

theFIRMA is a project office established in 2015, originating from a combination of previous project offices that started in the early 2000s. In theFIRMA, the work is done in the same way as in real company, mainly in customer- and R&D -projects.

We employ over 200 students in over 50 varying projects, including website and software development, testing, requirement specifications, and creating marketing materials. The students working in theFIRMA are fast learners. They earn credits for their work, and the more motivated ones can be hired as student project managers.

The quality of their work is ensured by our student project managers, student CEO and the staff of Turku University of Applied Sciences.

FUNDED PROJECTS

A project funded by the EU that promotes the careers and well-being of entrepreneurs over 55 years of age. The aim is to provide digitalization, business expertise, and new networks to improve the competitiveness of companies.

A project funded by the Finnish National Agency for Education where a tool for gamification of existing cultural diversity related material is being created. The aim of the project is to develop a game for the use of multicultural education for 4th to 6th grade children in schools, as part of civics education.

A project funded by the EU which aims to improve the digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises, instilling group behaviors and conduct which will enable the powerful implementation of a digital business unit, along with enhancement of cooperative service paths to the benefit of enterprises.

A project funded by the EU where projects are implemented through benefiting from digitalization, gamification, and data management. We emphasize fast, agile, and experimental solutions.

Open the DaaS (Open Data as a Service) project, open data and digitalization utilizing collective operating model is being created. Utilization of open data has many hidden business possibilities. Services created with open operating models can be the next success story of Finland. The utilization of open data in the company level operations is however still in the beginning phase.

Digio is a 3-year nationwide ESR+ project carried out by Turku University of Applied Sciences. Our goal is to assist businesses and organizations in improving their productivity by leveraging digital and intelligent solutions. We provide support, practical solutions, tools, skills development, and promote a positive attitude towards digitalization.

The pandemic raised a new demand for various new skills, and the DigiReactor project responds to this demand by creating a digital product development platform. The platform is implemented in English and serves different population groups (salaried employees, entrepreneurs, international students) and creates a versatile digital product development network in the region.

We support entrepreneurs and businesses in Southwest Finland in business development, hybrid work management, and strengthening employee well-being.

ICT-portti is a service gateway provided by Turku University of Applied Sciences, the University of Turku, and Turku Business Region, designed to help SMEs in the Southwest Finland region leverage information technology. Through ICT-portti, companies receive expert support and training in areas such as internal business processes, IT challenges, and advice on compatibility issues.
